  • David Frankland

    • Dave serves Customer Intelligence Professionals. He leads a research team that focuses on helping companies better leverage customer knowledge to improve marketing performance and business strategy. Dave's team delves deeply into the dynamics of Customer Intelligence (CI) and specializes in areas such as CI technology and services, web intelligence, social intelligence, marketing and customer analytics, measurement and attribution, and customer loyalty.

      Dave has written about Customer Intelligence and marketing service providers, as well as the organizational and business impact of CI. In addition to his research, Dave posts his thoughts and opinions on Twitter (@dfrankland) and on his blog (http://blogs.forrester.com/dave_frankland).

      Prior to joining Forrester, Dave was vice president of corporate communications at DoubleClick, where he managed internal and external communications. While at DoubleClick, he managed enterprise communications, as well as for the company's digital marketing, email marketing, Abacus, and enterprise marketing solutions business units. Prior to DoubleClick, Dave was a director at strategic communications consultancy Niehaus Ryan Wong. Dave began his career working in Hill & Knowlton's London and New York offices.

      Dave holds a B.A. from the National University of Ireland, Galway, a master's in peace studies from Trinity College, Dublin, and a master's in public relations from the University of Stirling, Scotland.

    • Doug Loots has been involved in online marketing and sales since 2002. He is currently a Director at Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Des Moines, Iowa overseeing all digital marketing functions and digital properties.

      Originally trained as a banker, Doug has managed digital marketing for multiple business lines at Wells Fargo. In 2002, he took Wells Fargo Auto Finance’s online presence from a static HTML page & 1-800 number and virtually zero business to a market leading online channel producing over 33,000 auto loan applications per month.
      Doug has spoken at multiple national online marketing conferences, including Search Engine Strategies, The Direct Marketing Association National Conference, The Direct Marketing Association of Northern California, InflectionPoint, and dotBlue. Doug has been interviewed by online publications e-Marketing & Commerce, Search Marketing Now, and by online personalities such as Kevin Lee of DidIt.com.

      In his spare time Doug is an adjunct faculty member teaching MBA students about digital strategy and digital marketing at the University of Iowa. He is also a Director for the University of Iowa’s Marketing Institute Advisory Board.

      Doug holds an MBA from the University of Iowa and resides in West Des Moines with his wife Colette and two young children.
  • Jason Spacek

    • Jason’s responsibility is setting strategy for the expanding consumer marketplace and evolving Blue KC to become a more consumer-focused company. He has participated in segmentation initiatives with the BCBS Association, has completed a customer value study on current members and is leading customer modeling exercises within Blue KC.
      Jason cut his teeth in the telecommunications industry spending 12 years with Sprint, Embarq and Century Link, all in consumer-facing roles. He has considerable background in leading diverse project teams and a proven track record in developing marketing strategy, implementing campaigns, and driving meaningful results.
  • John Selby
    Director, Sales and Marketing
    Consumer and Senior Markets Division
    Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey
    • John A. Selby was named Director, Sales and Marketing for Consumer and Senior Markets in October 2008. In this role, John is responsible for developing and managing all retail marketing programs and sales for Horizon's direct-pay individual, senior and small employer markets, as well as the Federal Employee Program. John also leads Horizon’s healthcare reform planning efforts around the end-to-end customer experience, retail presence and on- and off-exchange distribution.
      Previously John was Director of Product Development and Management for Horizon and also served as Assistant Vice President, Professional Relations and Network Development, at Horizon Healthcare Dental Services (HHDS), a subsidiary company, for more than eight years.

      John holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey, and has participated in executive management programs at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Center for Creative Leadership. He serves on the Board of Directors of the YMWCA of Newark and Vicinity.
  • Robb Scheele
    Senior Director of Sales

    • Robb joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana in October 2011 as Senior Director of Sales and is responsible for leading a wide range of sales and marketing initiatives. He is currently focused on creatively leveraging wellness, e-business, and retail strategies to transform distribution channels. Robb comes to the Blues from Humana, where he helped develop innovative product and provider network strategies, as well as wellness incentive programs to inspire employers to create a culture of health and wellness.
      Robb holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and lives in Helena, Montana, with his wife, Claire.
  • Augusta Meill

    • Augusta believes in the power of design to change lives. She works with her clients to drive business success by creating experiences that make a real difference for real people.

      Prior to joining Continuum, Augusta worked in the design communities of Los Angeles and New York. She worked with companies to communicate how their design offerings were a key point of differentiation. Augusta has a BA in American Studies from Yale University.

    • Rebecca is the founder of Cake Health, a web-app that provides transparency to healthcare coverage and expenses, helping individuals and families track, manage, and reduce their healthcare costs. Cake Health is a rapidly growing company in a new category where consumer Internet meets healthcare.  Launched to the public at TechCrunch Disrupt in Sept 2011, Cake Health was selected as one of the final 7 most disruptive startups.

      Rebecca has over 8 years of experience in corporate strategy and research for technology, from hardware to consumer Internet.

      Prior to Cake Health, she worked at Ipsos, where she ran proprietary quantitative research for companies such as Intel, Google, Sprint, and LG on product development and market strategy, ranging from feature optimization to messaging. Prior to this she worked in the corporate strategy division for Seagate Technology as an expert on consumer technology adoption and digital consumption.

      Rebecca holds a Magna Cum Laude BS in Marketing from Santa Clara University, is a graduate of the Founder Institute accelerator, and a contributor to Mint’s personal finance blog on healthcare related topics.

  • Deb McCabe

    • Deb McCabe is the Director of Customer Experience at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC).  Deb joined BCBSKC in January of 2004 in the Operations Support Division where she focused on Business Performance Analytics, Process Improvement, and other Business Analysis/Support.

      Deb’s career spans over 35 years in Health Plan Operations working for both national health insurance organizations and local health plans managing operations, multiple system conversions, quality assurance, continuous process improvement and service excellence.

      In her Customer Experience role at Blue KC she has direct management of Member Communication, the Member Web Portal, and mentors teams to ensure the desired customer experience across all business processes.

      Deb earned her Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management from Mid America Nazarene University as well as an Executive MBA from University of Missouri, Kansas City.

    • For more than 12 years Ron has been responsible for various advertising, sales, and product development initiatives at Blue KC. He currently serves on the Blue KC Healthcare Reform Task Force Oversight Committee and Co-Chairs the company’s Health Care Reform Product and Pricing sub-committee.

      Ron has worked in the healthcare industry in both the insurance and provider segments for more than 25 years.

  • Jeff Tikkanen
    Chief Marketing Executive and SVP of Emerging Markets
    Health Care Services Corporation
    • Jeff leads a wide range of marketing functions across HCSC’s four Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans in Illinois, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. His responsibilities include market research, product development, sales/marketing administration and technology, marketing training, producer service, and communications. He also heads the emerging markets practice, which includes retail strategy and sales as well as HCSC’s positioning on the state exchanges being developed as part of health care reform.

      Jeff has served in a variety of management roles since 1993 at HCSC and its Plans. Most recently, he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma, where he was responsible for all market segments and the GHS Property and Casualty Company subsidiary; he also led government relations and advertising. Prior to that, he focused on national account business for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois as Implementation Project Manager, Manager of InterPlan Administration, and Vice President of National Accounts. Jeff has a Bachelor degree from University of Michigan.

  • Jeremiah Owyang
    Leading Web Analyst and Partner, Customer Strategy

    • Jeremiah Owyang is a Partner focused on customer strategy at Altimeter Group and author of the popular blog “Web Strategy,” which focuses on how corporations connect with their customers using web technologies. According to Technorati, the Web Strategy blog is in the top 1% of all blogs, and has over 40,000 subscribed readers. Hailing from enterprise web management, a former Industry Analyst, Jeremiah consults and speaks on the topics of disruptive technologies for brand related customer strategies.

      In the realm of disruptive technologies, Jeremiah is frequently sought after and has appeared on Bloomberg TV and is quoted in the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, Associated Press and other technology and business related publications. He was featured in the 2009 “Who’s Who” in the Silicon Valley Business Journal. As a speaker he has keynoted the Internet Strategy Forum, Web 2.0 Expo, SXSW, and dozens of other venues.

      After work, he spends time with family, gets in some exercise, and travels to tropical beaches. Jeremiah was pleasantly surprised to find that his small, white, furry dog Rumba is active on Twitter.

      Previously, Jeremiah was a Senior Analyst at Forrester Research, focused on social computing for the interactive marketer. Prior to that, was the Director of Corporate Media Strategy at PodTech Network, a podcasting and online video startup. From 2005-2007 Jeremiah held the title of Manager of Global Web Marketing at Hitachi Data Systems and launched the community and blog program. He also served as the Intranet Architect at World Savings (now Wells Fargo) and was a user experience professional at Exodus Communications.

      Jeremiah is active with the web community and has hosted workshops, events, and community tweet ups across the globe. He’s active with the Twitter community and has over 52,000 followers and growing. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing from San Francisco State University.
